Conversations while Dad mows the lawn

LP: "Where's your mower?"

Me: "What?"

LP: "Where's your mower?"

Me: "Oh, you mean your mower?"

LP: "NO, I don't mean my bubble mower. Your mower."

Me: "I don't have a mower."

[stunned pause]

LP: "You can get one for your birthday, okay?"

Me: "We'll see. My birthday isn't for a long time."

LP, sympathetically: "My birthday isn't for a long time either."

And to think that it wasn't that long ago that "Eat 'morie' " was a major feat of linguistic accomplishment.
